Additional Categories

In addition to the categories already outlined there are a number of additional routes to qualify as immigrant. Namely, the Provincial Nominee Program and the Quebec Selection Program.

Provincial Nominee Program
Most provinces in Canada have various Nominee Programs based on the economic demand of the given Province.

Individuals that are interested in migrating to a specific province in Canada, may be nominated by that Province under their skilled worker/business/family program based on various criteria set by the Province. This includes criteria such as a job offer, relatives settled in a particular province, specific in-demand skills and/or business opportunities. Applicants are assessed based on number of factors established by the individual province.

Quebec selection program
Under the Canada-Quebec Accord on Immigration, Quebec establishes its own immigration requirements and selects immigrants who will adapt well to living in Quebec.

If one intends to go to Quebec as a skilled worker, you must first follow a separate selection process before your application is finalised by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. The Quebec selection programs recruits immigrants specifically for the province of Quebec.
